South Beach Miami

Wir sind in South Beach Miami und somit dem langsam schlechter werdenden Wetter entflohen! :-)
Momentan liegen wir am Dach des Hotels und lassen uns die Sonne auf den Bauch scheinen. Geschätzte 26 Grad haben wir hier.
Der Flug mit Lufthansa war gut. Schön pünktlich und für einen 10 Stunden Flug erstaunlich kurz.

Das Hotel wo wir residieren heisst "The Strand Ocean Drive" und ist nur durch eine Strasse (dem Ocean Drive) vom Strand getrennt. Das Hotel ist Teil des berühmten Art Deco Viertels hier.
Je nach Wetter werden wir dann unsere Route weiter bestimmen.
Bis zum 15. sind wir auf alle Fälle einmal hier!

I´d like to thank you all once more for your coming last Saturday and making this party more than just "special". Celebrating together was great fun and really touching was the fact having people around knowing you for 27(!) years, for a longer time or a touching time or a special connection.

Sure I´d like to thank you for your collective present, this amazing and too much.

Athens part 2

Kalimera!

Spring in Athens is more than nice. We've been to Athens this weekend, flewn with Skyeurope, which was ok and stayed at the Novotel Athene which was ok too.

Of course we visited Acropolis, Plaka. Agora and other "must have seen"-sights, but mainly we enjoyed mediteranian spring.

That's for the mobile report, maybe I'll add some high res pictures later on.
If you get the chance to visit Athens for a weekend by catching cheap flights with a low cost carrier of your choice, go for it. I can support you in finding a good and central situated hotel.

I got a Mazda 3 rental as I need to go to St. Gallen. The Mazda was ok, I'm not a big fan of... ;-)

Back from Asia 2009

Back from Asia and a bit sick due to "technical problems" in KL.
What to say? All in all a super relaxing, super lazy, sometimes rainy (what´s rainseason in german...?), a bit sweltry (only 94% humidity...) always above 25 degrees.

Sorry for the small number of posts, but wavelog´s trial version on my E71 restricted certain functions AND(!) Malaysia and Indenesia are full with Wi-Fi spots which are unfortunately not for free. :-(

First, Qatar Airways´ five stars are questionable. No inflight VIE-DOH and food of average quality.

KL is impressively full with shopping malls which leads to the conclusion that malysians are real shopaholics!In KL Starwood´s "Imperial" is worth every cent spent there. Even then monorail is close by.

After KL we spent one day in Bali at the Mercure @ Kuta Beach, which was ok for getting an impression what Bali could be. We spent the time there for getting around and checking hotels in Nusa Dua (The Westin, The Laguna, Melia Bali)

Then we headed from Bali to Lombok on a very short 18min flight with Trigana Airways.
The airport on Lombok Mataram was very small, only two gates and two belts.
Anyhow we started our stay at lovely Lombok.
First stop there ten days at Qunci Villas. In short: we loved it. A small property, cozy bungalows, friendly staff and good food. All in all very recommendable!

At Lombok we decided and reserved the next hotels for the remaining week, which were The Novotel Lombok and "The Laguna Resort and Spa".

The Novotel property with it´s nature was really great; even the village-concept was great, but besides the bungalow were 12 years old and no more up to date. In short, everything (bungalow, food, etc.) was average.
After that experience we headed back to Bali with a B737-800 of Merpati Air on a everlasting 15min flight... ;-)

And then the second true highlight of our trip: The Laguna Resort and Spa!!!
It was awesome! Nice and clean, extra attention of everybody, great food and luxury. Starwoodhotel at it´s best!

That´s for the intermediate report so far. I´m tired and not fully fit.
I´ll post some pix later, resp. add them to the gallery on the left.

Wetter

Zum Wetter und damiit die gschätzten Leser was zu lachen haben. Es schüttet jeden Nachmittag bei rund 30 Grad, was aber nicht viel ausmacht. ;-)

@ Marco: Junge, hör deine Mobilbox ab, sorry füra Aufwecken gestern Früh... ;-)

Kuala Lumpur

Hier sind wir nun in Kuala Lumpur. Nach anstrengender Anreise liegen wir am Tag 3 am Pool und lassen uns die Sonne am Bauch scheinen. Es ist super schwül hier, gestern hatten wir 35 grad.
Zum Flug: Qatar Airways erhebt den Anspruch eine 5 Sterne Fluggesellschaft zu sein, naja eher 4 Sterne dürften angemessen sein. Auch der Flughafen ist witzig winzig. Das Hotel ist dafür um so besser. Das Zimmer groß und sauber, das Essen genial. Gegessen haben wir auch schon ausserhalb. Alles was herausfordernd anders aussieht haben wor schon gegessen und sind nicht enttäuscht worden. Hier mal ein Foto von den Petronas Twin Towers in horizontal weil das das Handy als einziges nicht checkt... LG

Finally a new mobile, just in time before our trip.
Nokia´s E71 did it finally because of S60 and it´s compatibility.
As far as I can say the mobile simply has all and the software got even morw intuitive and user friendly.

I´ll install the wavelog 2 mobile blogger to keep this blog at least a bit up to date.

Right now something around 90hrs until the Asian 2009 experience.
I´m really curious how KL and Indonesia will be like.

Today I got some impressions of me swimming. As I swimm a lot you should have a view on them.

That´s it far this week I´d say. A hell lot to do, for work and for the preparation of our trip.

new year, new post... :-)

2 double zero 9. It´been some time after my last post. Nothing dramatically changed, except the count of days before Asia 2009! :-)

21 days only from now on, almost worth counting the hours...

As I´m still have scouting blood in my venes I´m always looking for gadgets to save energy or globally said: resources.

Gadget of the month is definately the "Neoperl" watertroughputreduction. Feels the same, reduces the amount of used water for 50%. I tested it, it´s true ;-)
BUT(!) filling of water cans etc, takes on the other hand double as long as without the Neoperl thing... You choose.

Another thing to mention is that I´m going to get a new mobile! I love mobile phones, mobiles are a men´s best friend, some kind of "dog 2.0" *g*
Already having a Blackberry 8310 with full blackberry function AND the last years using Nokia´s E61 resp. E61i it´s clear that the new one has to be a business phone.

I´m currently having three favourites:

Nokia E71 (S60-OS, and Nokia easy to use, currently no.1)
Blackberry Bold (what to say? Blackberry, but for private purposes without the BB functions worth it?)
Sony Ericsson C905 (due to 8,1 MPix, real flashlight, Wi-Fi a kind of business phone).

Let´s see.
